Better Late Than Never?

Marvel has a new BLADE ongoing series beginning in September.
The character is more modeled after the Wesley Snipes movie version and the book is firmly set in the Marvel Universe (as proven by the cover to #1).

Shouldn't they have done this years ago?

2006 Harvey Award Predictions

The nominees for this year's Harvey Awards are...

BEST WRITER

□ Brian Michael Bendis | NEW AVENGERS
Marvel Comics
□ Ed Brubaker | CAPTAIN AMERICA
Marvel Comics
□ Joshua Hale Fialkov | ELK’S RUN
Hoarse and Buggy Productions/Speakeasy Comics
□ Mike Mignola | BPRD
Dark Horse Comics
□ Alex Robinson | TRICKED
Top Shelf

My choice: I'd have to go with Mike Mignola.
Bendis is good but NEW AVENGERS? For a Harvey??? DAREDEVIL, maybe.
And I haven't been reading CAPTAIN AMERICA.
Where's Grant Morrison for SEVEN SOLDIERS and ALL-STAR SUPERMAN?

BEST ARTIST

□ Frank Cho | SHANNA, THE SHE-DEVIL
Marvel Comics
□ David Finch | NEW AVENGERS
Marvel Comics
□ Eduardo Risso | 100 BULLETS
DC/Vertigo
□ Noel Tuazon | ELK’S RUN
Hoarse and Buggy Productions/Speakeasy Comics
□ J.H. Williams III
PROMETHEA, ABC/WildStorm/DC Comics

Eduardo Risso's on the ballot. Good luck to everyone else!
Seriously, though, this could be a good year for J.H. Williams since the last issue of PROMETHEA was very original and he delivered some nice work on SEVEN SOLDIERS #0 (which, again, isn't mentioned).

BEST CARTOONIST

□ Frank Cho | SHANNA, THE SHE-DEVIL
Marvel Comics
□ Chris Eliopoulos | FANTASTIC FOUR PRESENTS: FRANKLIN RICHARDS, SON OF A GENIUS
Marvel Comics
□ John Kovalic | DORK TOWER
Dork Storm Press
□ Seth | WIMBLEDON GREEN
Drawn and Quarterly
□ Chris Ware | ACME NOVELTY LIBRARY # 16

Darwyn Cooke for SOLO would be a nice addition. As would Mike Allred for SOLO.
I expect Bill Willingham to be on here next year with SHADOWPACT.
This year, I'm betting on Frank Cho.

□ ACME NOVELTY LIBRARY | ACME Novelty Library
□ CAPTAIN AMERICA | Marvel Comics
□ ELK’S RUN | Hoarse and Buggy Productions/Speakeasy Comics
□ RUNAWAYS | Marvel Comics
□ Y: THE LAST MAN | DC/Vertigo

No 100 BULLETS? No DAREDEVIL? No NEXTWAVE? No FABLE? And I guess SHANNA didn't qualify for this one...
I'd have to go with Y: THE LAST MAN.
