D6 Space - The Mark of CAIN, Part Two

ROBOT RIVALRY

J'kara stares down her foe, calculating its movement.
The robot is devoid of emotion, a heap of metal, wires and lights.
But it was also slow. J'kara finds no trouble getting the first move and she tries to make it count.

Gracefully leaping to put herself between the robot and the door, her fists slam into the robot, pushing it back but barely effecting it otherwise.
"Hmph," J'kara exclaims, "I freed the door, Diegos! This robot may take a while!"

The robot attempts to strike J'kara, succeeding in hitting her but she shrugs it off.

Diegos rushes out the door in search of Verge as J'kara and the robot continue their deadly game of tag.

J'kara slides her blaster out and quickly takes a shot at the robot. With a flash of bright light and a powerful sound of metal being shredded, the blaster sends the robot reeling.
Stumbling forward for a second, it soon collapses to the floor into a smoldering heap of metal and smoke.

"Well! Never underestimate a well placed blaster shot," J'kara states as she holsters her pistol.

She flinches at the smell of burning wires as she glances over at Mark-Ivan, who was analyzing a device he had pulled out from under the table.
"Now that I've stopped Robot Menace Number One, tell me that you're going to keep us from blowing up, Ivan."

"I will not make any promises, J'kara. But I shall try. The fear of failure is often the cause of failure, and I have no such fear."
Mark-Ivan takes the device and rotates it gently, looking it over carefully.
"Although the probability is still high that I could fail."

"Comforting," J'kara breathes softly, rolling her eyes.

Next: MARK-IVAN TRIES NOT TO FAIL or EVERYTHING GOES BOOM

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Behind the scenes-

For Initiative, J'kara rolled 1D6 and got an 4. Added to her score of 8, she had an Initiative of 12.
The robot rolled 1D6 and got a 1. Added to its score of 4, it had an Initiative of 5.
J'kara wins Initiative and goes first in combat.

Round 1 of the fight.

J'kara first leaps to position herself between the robot and the door, to give Diegos an opening to pursue Verge.
I assign a Difficulty number of 6, based on the robot's Agility.
J'kara rolls 4D6 for her Acrobatics and gets 15. Success.

J'kara then punches the robot. Base Target Number is 10 and it's Hand-to-Hand, giving -5, making the Target Number 5.
J'kara rolls 4D6 for her Brawling and gets 12. Success.

For Damage, J'kara does 2D6 damage with her bare fists. Rolling, she gets 10 with a 6 on the Wild Die. Rolling the Wild Die again, she gets a 2, giving her a total of 12.
The robot's Damage Resistance is 12 and absorbs all the damage.

The robot attempts to hit back at J'kara. Again, the Target Number is 5.
It is untrained in Brawling and uses its Agility of 2D. Rolling 2D6, it gets 10. Success.

For damage, the Robot would do 1D6 for its strength, but I decided to double it considering it is basically all metal.
So it rolls 2D6 for damage and gets 5, with a 1 on the Wild Die. J'kara takes 5 points of damage, and I determine to give it the robot -1 to hit and be hit on the next round.

Round 2 of the fight.

J'kara is now going to attempt shooting the robot.
Target Number is now 4, due to the -1 penalty on the robot. But I also give her a +1 penalty for pulling the gun and firing, bringing it back to 5.
Rolling 3D6 for her Agility, she gets a 12. Success.

For damage, she rolls 5D6 for the Blaster and gets 22.
The robot's Damage Resistance of 12 absorbs all but 10 damage.
10 damage brings the robot to Incapacitated.
I give it a chance to roll to regain its senses, and it rolls 1D6 for its Strength getting a 3.
Robot is out.
